A slow laptop can affect productivity, especially if you use it for work, study, or business. While many people think it’s just “getting old,” there are usually specific reasons behind the slowdown.

One major cause is storage overload. When your hard drive is nearly full, your system struggles to operate smoothly. Another common reason is having too many startup programs running in the background, consuming memory before you even open your first app.
Dust buildup inside your laptop is another hidden problem. Over time, dust blocks airflow and causes overheating. When laptops overheat, they automatically reduce performance to prevent damage. Interestingly, internal temperatures can increase by up to 20°C due to dust accumulation alone.
Upgrading to an SSD, cleaning internal components, replacing thermal paste, or increasing RAM can dramatically improve speed. In many cases, professional servicing can make a 3–4 year old laptop feel almost new again.
